What are they and why create them?

Posters are posters. They are a great way to communicate learning. They also stress creativity.




Your assignment:

  1. Create a Posters webpage in your wiki.
  2. Optional: Find two articles or videos where teachers talk about how they use posters with their students.
    Summarize articles/videos (2-3 sentences) and hyperlink to article or video on your wiki page.
  3. Samples: (create samples and post them on your Posters page or create projects for your instructional plans and post them there then reflect on them on your Teaching and Tech page).
    1. Create two items from the following list that includes text, graphics and a video then post on your wiki.

      or book. It can be a comic book/graphic novel or any type of book you wish. {High school teachers, check out Comic Life and iBooks Author.} or sketching app (Sketchnoting For Reflection)

      A few easy to use apps include:
    2. Create a word cloud poster using either Wordle, Tagxedo, Collage.com (photo collages including collages in the shape of states or countries) or other word cloud app (More Than Wordle... Ten Other Word Cloud Generators ... Providing Unique Features )and post on your wiki as an image. Also read 170 Ways To Use Word Clouds In Every Classroom.
      • If you are having trouble saving the Wordle as a jpg (1) select Open in Window option, (2) print, (3) don't print to your printer, use save as pdf option instead, (4) on a Mac open your PDF then save as a JPG, on a Windows machine take a screenshot then paste into Paint to edit and save as a jpg, (5) use the jpg. Or, you could take a screenshot on the Mac or use the Snipping Tool on a Windows machine then upload the graphic.
    3. Read Ten Reasons Google Drawings Should Be on Your Classroom Radar
      Create a drawing using Google Draw Include:
      -- text (change color from black)
      -- a shape, change color, rotate
      -- Lines where you draw a shape, change color
      -- an image
      Change Sharing options to Public
      Save as a jpg -- post on your wiki -- File - download as - jpg
      Embed in your wiki -- File - publish to the web - embed code shows

    4. Create a slideshow or movie (movie trailer, annotated bib) using an app you haven't used before such as Prezi or PowToon , PhotoPeach , PhotoStory3, or something else 40 Sites & Apps for Creating Presentations, Presently Perfect! 10 Powerful Presentation Tools for Educators). Embed show on your site.
      PhotoPeach -- slideshow with music and captions (no voice narration), uses Flash (so won't show on iPad), hosted on PhotoPeach site (free version does not allow you to download your shows, pay version does), be sure to manage your comments selecting to not allow comments
      Prezi -- is rather like PowerPoint but yet different. It allows you to zoom in and out of things. This is nice.... unless it makes you dizzy. If you want to view it on your iPad, download Prezi Viewer (free). You find the embed code once you go back to the Prezi page with all your prezi's on it. As usual, it's under Share. Be sure to set the Permissions to Public so you don't have to be logged into your account to see the show.PhotoStory3 -- a Windows only product for making movies. Allows the use of still photos, titles and captions, narration, background music. Create movie, export it, upload exported movie to YouTube, embed YouTube video into wiki.
      Lucid Chart -- This Google Tool allows you to create posters and then present them. (Look in Google Apps, click on More then Even More) Introducing presentation mode: a better way to present your diagrams
    5. (optional) Create a concept map using Inspiration or another app. Be sure concept map has graphics! Post as a graphic.
      1. Inspiration (free 30 day trial available to use at home, program available on the lab computers on campus. If you make an Inspiration at home, save as oldest version possible, our program on campus isn't the latest version.)

      4. VUE (free online)
